Something to Think Over

Ok, nothing much:
I've just realized that I've bought too many books for this month, and I've spent too much money for it. Now, as a resolution for the new year, I'd try my best to buy only a maximum of two books per month, and not be tempted by affordable, cheap and great finds in book shops, or on ebay.

a pie must be there on the second tuesday of the chinese new year

Gorgeous Iker

I just love Iker Casillas... But who doesn't? haha... nada, It's been a while since I've posted anything here, and I just wanted to have Iker's picture on this blog. :D

Yeah, I know most of the time I write messed up posts, haha, like now... the title's about Iker but I'm writing things not related to Iker: Like, lately I've been writing another story, which I'll hopefully have my friends read sometime soon, after I type it down, because I had it on pencil and paper, yeah (pencil and paper). And I'm loving Vampire Diaries (Go Damen!). And finally, after some harsh persuasion by my cousin dear, I decided to open a facebook account (Yay for me!). And I'm thinking of selling my harry potter books... Haha, why? because I had an argument with my sister regarding container, huh... long story... anyways, I think this whim will just pass, because based on my experience, I really CAN'T sell my books... I'm sooo weird.

Books After Twilight

Like many others, I’m also hooked to Twilight, and after I’ve finished reading Breaking Dawn, and the partial draft of Midnight Sun, I couldn’t get over the whole saga so I read it again and again and again and again. I suppose I’ve read the whole saga about ten times or something (No exaggeration, well probably not the whole New Moon since it hurts a lot. I can’t bear Edward leaving me… I mean Bella (Well in my OWN world I’m Bella so… all right, if I go on with this rant you’ll think I’m really crazy so let’s get back to the topic)), and after all that reading I still couldn’t get over it. So I thought about reading other books, and YES people! There are A LOT of OTHER GREAT BOOKS aside from Twilight. A LOT That I finally finally gotten over it, well not entirely, since there’s still sort of a hang over like I still feel Edward Cullen---WAIT! I’m writing like some drunk person---Well, as I said, a lot and I mean lots and lots, and like the effect of Twilight, I also couldn’t entirely get over these books, they’re all AMAZING. And I highly recommend some of them (Okay, I know you probably think the one writing these things down is crazy, but I’m not (I think I’m not… haha), but my point is, these books are really GREAT and I’m not joking.

Ehem… Well, I’ve read quite a few books after Twilight, the first (exactly after my tenth or something reading of Breaking Dawn) is…

Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella (More on my past post, check if you wish but note my tendency for rants, I do a lot of them).

Although it’s not in the same Fantasy/Romance genre, it’s very very very very nice. All characters, except for a few EVIL characters, are so likeable, especially the heroine/protagonist/whatever you call her, Rebecca Bloomwood (She lies a lot, but she’s very funny, and she’s talented and smart, mind you she does a lot of very funny, sometimes embarrassing stuffs. That makes the story so fun though). Also a character to watch is Luke Brandon, the love of her life. Erm… actually, I’ve already made a post about the whole Shopaholic series, so if you want note: only if you want, read my past post: “Loving Shopaholic, Becky Bloomwood, and Luke Brandon” or something that sounds like it.

After the Shopaholic Series (Confessions of a Shopaholic, Shopaholic Takes Manhattan, Shopaholic Ties Knot, Shopaholic and Sister, Shopaholic and Baby), I read House of the Night by PC Cast and Kristin Cast. Hmm… currently the series has four books (Marked, Untamed, Betrayed, Hunted) There’s a coming fifth book: Tempted. I think the series is well written, with good descriptions on how they do their magic and stuffs, although I have some slight er… issue with Zoey’s (the main character) tendency to fall in love so easily with so many guys (but like I said it’s MY issue, I don’t know with others, it’s good nonetheless). Anyways, the House of the Night series, like Twilight is about Vampyres (Yupz with a ‘Y’), and in the story, people are aware of Vampyres, but there are some others like the People of Faith or so they call them, who does not approve of them. Also, Vampyres are marked, which means that anyone who has the tendency to become Vampyres get marks, like tattoos on their faces (it just happens to anyone, without prior notice or something). Evidently, those marked go to a school called House of the Night wherein they study, and meet other fledglings (young vampyres) like themselves, until they turn to adult vampyres, or die during the process. And another Also, some Vampyres or Fledglings in the story, are blessed with the power of the elements or something like that (Various affinities) by their goddess Nyx. The plot is entirely different from Twilight, but it’s a good series, lots of magic, spells, twists and turns, and mysteries.

One of My FAVORITES is the Mortal Instruments Trilogy by Cassandra Clare. And when I say favorites I really mean FAVORITES. It’s really really really really GOOD. I love all the characters, especially Jace *hearts*. The series contains humor, well it’s not a comedy series, but when you read their dialogues you really can’t help but laugh, lots of action, mystery (yup, also a lot), touchingly sweet romance *sighs dreamily*, and unexpected events. Once you start reading, it’s hard to stop (my case). Anyways, the protagonist here is named Clary (I adore her), and the story starts when she finds out that the world is not what it seems (haha, I can’t believe I’m using this phrase), and there exists entities different from people, and that there are people called Shadowhunters (unknown to the mundane world) who have the skills and the power to put demons back where they belong to keep humanity safe. Along the story she meets Jace, a super gorgeous, and talented shadowhunter and the story goes (I really do not wish to spoil anything for anyone, so I’ll stop discussing from this point). What I really want to say is that the Mortal Instruments Trilogy (City of Bones, City of Ashes and City of Glass) is one of the best books I’ve read so far. It’s already on my favorites list. I’m sure every person’s taste differs, but I believe this series is worth a try. I think it’s really good.

After the Mortal Instruments Trilogy, I’ve read some other books like Can You Keep a Secret by Sophie Kinsella, The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella, heck you should read all of Sophie Kinsella’s books, they’re all great. She’s actually one of my favorite authors.

Erm… anyways, I also read a few other books like Vampire Kisses, umm… I’m sure a lot of people like it, but I don’t feel about it so much. Before anyone reacts, please note that this is my own opinion, again others might not agree with me, I’m sure, but for me, Vampire Kisses isn’t my kind of plot because, I think it’s redundant. Like they’re already vampires, and they’re also Goths, not that I have anything against Goths, but it’s just… well anyway… it’s probably just me.

I also read Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith. Hmm… this one’s okay I suppose, but again (Just my opinion) it’s only so-so… I love Damon though. And between him and the main character’s love interest, Stefan, I would go choose Damon.

Next stop… Oh right Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead. This is also AWESOME. Great plot, good characters, again one of the books you’ll have a hard time putting down once you’ve started reading. Although it’s not that descriptive when it comes to action scenes, but overall it’s really good. I just finished reading the third book last night, and I’m well, argh… I won’t spoil anyone, but it’s really really really good. It’s got great romance by the way, and I don’t know about some, but personally I love the characters, especially the main character, Rose, and Dimitri too… Actually, I think all the characters are lovable. I also love the relationships here… anyways, I think the Vampire Academy Series (Vampire Academy, Frostbite, Shadow Kiss) is also worth trying out, the fourth book, Blood Promise is coming on August 2009 if my sources are correct. I’m not sure. Btw, Richelle Mead seems to like Princess Diaries or Anne Hathaway since some characters seemed to be named after her and the character she portrayed in Princess Diaries, like Hathaway’s the main character’s family name (she’s Rosemarie Hathaway btw), also there’s this girl named Mia Rinaldi (I know it’s “Ri” not “Re” but still the resemblance Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi is Anne Hathaway’s name in Princess Diaries, a.k.a. Princess Mia). :)

And I’m currently reading Tattoo Faeries by Melissa Marr I’m in the middle of the third book (Fragile Eternity), and I’ll write more about this when I finish it. But, so far so good… :)

Anyway, these are the books I’ve read after Twilight. They’re not like Twilight, but some of them are in the same Fantasy/Romance genre. I’m still searching for great books, in the romance or fantasy/romance type, if you have any suggestions please tell, I’d love to read some more books.

A Better Online Shopping Experience

Oftentimes finding exactly what you want when shopping online can be a hassle. There are a lot of websites allowing you to search through different shops, but apparently most of the results that these sites show would have something to do with placement fees. Thus, not exactly showing you the best place to buy the thing you want to purchase.

Thankfully, now we have a shopping website that works like google and gets you the best place to buy the thing you wish to get. The results they show aren’t based on placement fees, so you get more choices, with possibly cheaper prices. That’s great value.

ShopWiki gets you everything you need: from Garden Hoses, Garden Accents, to Furniture, to bestselling books like the Twilight saga, and the Shopaholic series, and other things that you would possibly want to buy. They give you more search results, and more choices. Shopping online has never been this easy, and convenient, so go online shopping at ShopWiki now.

Loving Shopaholic, Luke Brandon, and Becky Bloom.

Recently I’ve finished reading five of Sophie Kinsella’s Books: The Shopaholic series, and I’m totally in love with Luke Brandon.

All righty, before I go on talking endlessly about Luke, let me first give a brief overview of the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella (sorry for erm… bothering with the intro, I know a lot probably have read it already and have no need for brief “What’s it about” stuffs, but I just feel that it’s nice to have a proper overview. Haha, I’m already starting to type senseless stuffs, so before this goes on any longer, thus wasting space and inserting more blabbers, I’ll go on with the post).

The Shopaholic series consists of five books (I’m not sure if there’s going to be another following (but I’m so hoping that there’ll be another one, I just can’t get enough of Becky and Luke)), namely: Confessions of a Shopaholic, Shopaholic takes Manhattan, Shopaholic Ties Knot, Shopaholic and Sister, and Shopaholic and Baby, all of which are great to read. It follows the life of Rebecca Bloomwood (or Becky, she carries the Brandon name on the third book as she married Luke), 26 and a financial journalist at the start of the story, a certified shopaholic, as she goes through different things: from overspending to avoiding and paying debts, to various problems and catastrophes, to fixing everything up.

I think it is one of the most entertaining materials I’ve ever read. I recall laughing a lot at Becky’s thoughts, her different (and oftentimes, if not all the time funny) excusing to buying the most expensive, and sometimes the most absurd things, her entertaining lies, her brilliant ideas (which saved a lot of characters in the book, not excluding her husband, Luke Brandon), her fashion sense, and most importantly, the way she sorts her problems out, and fixes things back to the way they should be (well, almost).

The series contains a lot of entertaining and funny events, heartwarming moments, great characters and wonderful story—The relationships of the characters are really nice: Like her relationship with her best friend Suze (who I so adore), her parents, her other friends (like Danny-> Haha, love him!), her sister/half-sister Jess, and of course the love of her life, Luke Brandon.

What I love about their love life is that they’re so made for each other. Like for instance Becky’s this shopaholic, she spends a lot, and Luke’s sort of a workaholic. It matches, balances things up.

Aside from that I absolutely love how Luke treats her. He loves her so much, and she loves her back of course. And what’s more is that it’s realistic, like they have some quirks sometimes, and they don’t have an infinite amount of money since Luke sometimes asks Becky to take it easy, not to spend so much on unnecessary stuffs, Luke’s not all perfect as he gets irritated or loses his temper on some occasions… what happens in the book happens in real life situations.

Luke and Becky

In the story, in their wedding’s reception, Luke said that the first time he met Becky was during one of those press conferences, and he noticed her first when she asked why they don’t put colorful covers on checkbooks or something. Ever since that time, he went on inviting her to various conferences, including those irrelevant to Becky’s occupation.

It seems that he’s been fond of her (and eventually fell for her) after that. I suppose Sacha, his girlfriend during that time probably already knew of it, because from what I’ve read (I’m speculating by the way, or simply my imagination gone wild, forgive me if I go too far) Luke bought luggage (where he asked for Becky’s opinion) as gifts for the Sacha girl, but like what Becky said (or thought), Who gives luggage as gifts? Unless he’s expecting her to move out, plus, when Becky asked him (angry at the moment) if he’s telling Sacha that She (Becky) was the one who picked out the items, Luke answered him with “I’m sure she’ll be amused”. Becky thought that Luke was taking her for a joke at that moment, but I think what Luke really meant was that Sacha already knew that he likes Becky, and knowing that the girl Luke likes was the one picking out her gifts, she’ll get really furious.

Anyways, on the second book, Luke was going to open an office in London and when Becky was thinking that Luke is going to leave him, he asks her, telling her that “and I’m hoping that you’ll come with me”. So so sweet. Also, in the second book after everything’s all messed up, Luke’s company’s having a crisis, and the thing about Becky’s debts spread in the papers, when Becky announced that she’s going out of the country on telly, Luke followed her to the airport stepping out of his very important meeting. He bought her a drink and made her some offers hoping that she wouldn’t leave him, then he said, “Ok, I’m lying I don’t just need someone like you, I need you” (I was like ah… sooooo sweeet… I love Luke). But no worries… the two of them still gets together after two months, in New York, where Luke went to Barneys (I totally LOVE that scene).

Well there are a lot of times wherein their love for each other’s shown or tested (but they always get to fix it with the both of them) I’d love to put in more on this part since there are so much MORE but I have e-mail someone and so I’ll probably make this post shorter (than what I really intended. Seriously, if you’re talking Luke and Becky, there’s so much nice things to say).

Luke Brandon

Even if I don’t elaborate, it’s quite clear that Luke Brandon’s a lovable character.

Hmm… well he’s not perfect, he’s no Edward Cullen (I actually love Edward Cullen too, well who doesn’t? -> I even found a discussion in Sophie Kinsella’s blog about who you like best Edward Cullen or Luke Brandon, I believe it was titled Luke Brandon vs. Edward Cullen or something) but probably that’s what makes him so irresistibly charming. He’s not perfect, he makes mistakes, but he’s so sure about his love for Becky, he treats her so well, and even though he gets so furious at times, there was never a time where he showed violence, he just says some bad words (again, realistic), but he never hurt Becky.

All right, I’ve checked the clock, I do have to make the e-mail now, so I’ll post this first and just make a follow up maybe later (hmm… my “later” sometimes takes forever anyways)… I love Shopaholic, I love Becky Bloom and I love and I mean LOVE Luke Brandon.

Now I have a new goal, it’s even more realistic than the first one:

  1. Go to Forks, become Bella Swan, marry Edward Cullen, become a vampire.

And now I’m finally accepting the fact that I’ll never be a vampire, so here’s my new goal (NOTE: I’ve accepted the fact, but I’m not giving up on it… haha!):

  1. Go to London, become Becky Bloom (I could perhaps minus the debt), marry Luke Brandon and have a happy life with him.

I’ll stop here… ~ja ne!

Two Months of Summer - Chapter 1

Haha… it’s been a while since I posted any stories, made a lot of them lately but some of those are still on my notebook (yup, these past few weeks I’ve been enjoying writing on paper with a pencil haha). Anyways, I’ve been checking on some of the stories I’ve typed, and here’s one which I think is all right (NOTE the “I”… I’m not really sure how others would find it, so to be safe I’ll emphasize that the one saying that this story is all right is ME—just MY opinion… haha… I don’t want anyone getting mad at me or anything.).

Hmm… well, I’m not really sure if anyone else, aside from the few people I forced, would bother reading this one, but if in any case someone does, like you for example, yes you… I’d like to thank you in advance ^__^.

Oh, and btw, I can’t guarantee that you’ll like this little drabble of mine, so READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Another anyways, I know not many read my stories, but (you know, we got to do what we have to do)àneed to type the copyright thing down, just in case (me not bragging really… it’s a just in case matter).

Two Months of Summer

Chapter 1

By Pipan P

“A summer vacation unlike any other” this phrase, which is oftentimes used by dreamy girls hoping for a love-filled summer, had been one of my targets for the two month vacation from school—a fun-filled summer with my high school friends, including my long-time crush Jake Michaels, who had recently turned available after his breakup with Elena Russell—a girl I’m not really fond of.

For a couple of weeks before the said vacation, I had made the effort to think of good plans for the group outing which my friends and myself had arranged for the free-from-school-months in a private beach resort owned by Cerise Lerouch’s—my ever loving best friend—family. Among the number of ideas I’ve thought of is walking on the shore while the sun is rising with Jake, exploring the nearby cave with Jake, storytelling by the bonfire with Jake by my side, and stargazing with Jake, and all these would eventually lead to me and Jake going out.

Apparently all my plans will have to remain as they are—good old plans, as my parents decided to ground me for the whole two months of summer vacation for coming home drunk after driving one Saturday night.

“You’re not allowed to drink alcoholic beverages, I’ve told you that many times already. What’s worse is that you drove your car home in that condition. Do you know how dangerous that is!?” was my mom’s speech after a few minutes of stepping inside the house premises.

It wasn’t really that big of a deal. Aside from the fact that I’m turning eighteen on the next month, I came home perfectly fine, well aside from being drunk and all. I arrived home without any injuries. Heck they should be glad that I came home at all, instead of sleeping out in the bar. The car did not even have a single scratch, aside from the two old scratches, one from the first run—It took me a while to finally master turning to a curve without hitting anything—and another from one of my other driving-while-drunk moments—wherein I wasn’t caught. So the punishment I’m given for that one night is totally uncalled for.

I don’t think I deserve to be grounded. I don’t think its right for me to miss the outing my friends and I had organized, to miss my chance to go out with Jake, and to be sent to an isolated place that cannot be in any way associated with the word summer.

“You will be staying with Marie” the very words my mom had ordered after announcing that I’m grounded for the next two months.

Marie is a nice person. She’s a good friend of the family, a daughter of the head of the Crane Industries—a good business partner of my own family’s company—and had often helped me in some of my school works. She’s a pretty lady, twenty five years of age, who is by no doubt kind and very intelligent. I wouldn’t have any objection to staying with her if it wasn’t for the phrase added to the order afterwards during our conversation. “You’ll help her with her chores in her farm.” She had said with the most emphasis on the last word.

Farms are not my thing. I consider myself as an outgoing, and city-loving girl. I love going to malls—shopping, I fancy eating in Italian restaurants with my friends, I love hanging out in bars, and I always update myself with the latest trends in the fashion industry. A farm doesn’t have any of that, and so it doesn’t really fit in the type of lifestyle I live.

Unlike me apparently, Marie adores the farm lifestyle. Contrary to being a daughter of a rich family, she prefers the simple type of living. Not too much grandeur, and in the countryside as much as possible. She’s got weird taste.

I observed the wide field covered in corn. Corn, corn, and more corn, I don’t even like to eat corn.

“Leanne, be good okay?” my mom reminded me. I leaned by the glass window on the backseat of the family car and nodded weakly.

“Behave yourself. Don’t cause Marie any trouble” my father added.

I had attempted a compromise with the decided arrangement, but none of the things I’ve suggested had worked. They’ll have it their way, and nothing I say is going to change it.

I stared at the wide corn field, sighing as the only thing in the place I’ve figured was corn, and a pale yellow house which I supposed was Marie’s on the far end of the curvy, non-cemented road.

As we drew closer to the residence, I’ve noticed that there’s a barn near the yellow structure. The joy! It seems that I don’t only have to water corns I also have to take care of some animals. If they were dogs or cats I’ll be fine, but I have never took care of pigs or cows or chickens. They’re really going to make me regret getting drunk.

We stopped by the house, and were almost instantly greeted by Marie who stepped out of her house the moment we stopped.

Charlotte!” she beamed, her waist-length red hair flowing behind like silk, when my mother stepped down the car. The two of them hugged each other, before my father came out and also gave his greetings.

They were cheerfully talking outside, when I caught her stare at the direction of the car, and since I’m the only person inside, I reckoned she was probably looking for me. I sighed before opening the door and then jumped down,

“Hi Marie” I said with less enthusiasm than I would have if it was a normal, and wholehearted visit, closing the door of the car behind. Outside the car, I could have a better view of the house I’ll be staying in for a few weeks. Amidst the place it’s constructed on, the house is pretty nice, two stories high, with a beautiful porch, and glass walls on the left side. It looks modern, much like how houses in my neighborhood are constructed, minus the gates, the pool, and the garden—unless she considers the field her backyard.

“Leanne, it’s so nice to see you” she smiled, and ran to hug me too. I gave a stiff smile, and returned the gesture with a hesitant tap on the back, “I’m so glad you decided to stay with me for the summer.”

I did not decide to stay, I was forced to stay. How I wanted to blurt the words out, but it’s difficult to act all sour and grumpy in front of Marie. She’s just too kind.

“Yeah” I replied,

“We’re going to have fun” she gleamed,

I simply nodded. I’m not sure I would, though.

My parents gave me last minute reminders, before heading off to the airport where they’ll board their plane to their business trip destination.

Marie helped me carry my things inside. Everything in the house’s interior seemed normal. No hanging baskets, haystacks, or things I’ve expected, coming from movies in farmland setting. There’s even a flat screen television in the sitting room, complete with DVD player, and piles of DVD’s, neatly stocked on elegant racks beside, and under the television.

This isn’t so bad.

“Would you like to see your room? Or do you want to have some tea first?” she politely asked,

“Er… I’d love to see my room” I’m not really in the mood for tea. I hate tea.

And with that she led me upstairs, still lending me a hand with my baggage, and explained to me various places—not many I might say—just the first door as her room, a bathroom, the door on the side of the corridor, until we reached the second of the two rooms on the top floor.

I dropped my gym bag on the floor after entering the place. It’s a neat room, smaller than my own room in my own house, but clean and decent. There’s a queen-sized bed on the side parallel to the huge glass window with long refreshing white morning curtains slid on the side, allowing the sunlight to penetrate the room. There’s a study table opposite to the bed fully equipped with a good looking computer and printer, and a bookshelf filled with seemingly educational books, none of which I would fancy reading, on the left side.

The place didn’t look much like a guest room. Considering the number of books, and school stuff inside, a nerd must own it.

“This is my brother’s room” she explained, as if she just heard my speculations. I was right after all, it wasn’t a guest room.

“I didn’t know you had a brother” I commented. I’ve attended a couple of the parties hosted by the Crane’s, since they were introduced to me by my parents about two years ago when the business partner thing had fluttered, and not once did the mysterious brother appear. Come to think of it, I haven’t even seen any of his pictures, or heard his parents speak of him.

“Yeah, you haven’t met him yet. He doesn’t like attending parties or social gatherings.” She stared away for a moment, “His name’s Lionel.” She continued, “He usually comes here with me during vacation, but currently he’s fixing some of his papers in preparation for College. So you’re free to use his room, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind.”

“Which university is he attending?” The main reason why he doesn’t attend the parties is probably because he’s far too busy reading his books and getting top grades in his class.

“He’s still undecided. He’s been accepted in a number of schools, some of which were offering him scholarships. He’s still weighing his options at the moment.”

Definitely a brainiac, and he doesn’t even need the scholarships. What with the Crane’s money and all.

“So is this all right for you?”

“Hmm… the room’s nice”

“I’m glad you like it” she smiled again, “I’ll leave you to settle, if you need anything I’ll just be downstairs.”

“Okay, thanks Marie”

“No problem.” And she closed the door behind, leaving me to wander my eyes around the room.

I noticed the computer, and wondered if the place had internet connection. Interpreting the words, “he wouldn’t mind” as “you may use the things inside”, I turned the computer on, only to find out that Marie’s brother, a.k.a. Lionel, had set a password on. I tried out some keys in an attempt to use the machine, typing in some silly hunches like “lionel”, “Crane”, “marie”, “nerd”, “password”, and other various combinations, none of which had worked.

After a few minutes of unsuccessful attempts, I decided to give up and turn off his computer. Browsing through the things on the table, I found a picture frame faced down. It was almost unnoticeable as the color of the back of the frame is about the same with the table.

Curious, I checked it out and found a photo of a guy and a girl on some living room. The girl had shoulder-length blond hair, and light blue eyes. She wore a plain pink shirt, and was leaning cheerfully on the guy’s shoulder. I think she’s pretty, and I suppose she’d look a lot better if she gets a new hair style, her straight all over do is totally off. The guy, on the other hand had beautiful black hair, even though it seemed unkempt in the photo. He had a handsome face that would probably earn some contracts for commercial ads, possibly even Hollywood if he could act.

After staring at the photo, a sudden insight had come to me. I looked at the guy’s face again. Could he be Marie’s brother? He doesn’t look like a nerd, and he doesn’t look anything like Marie.

I gave up on the thought. I’d just ask her, it’ll be a lot easier, and a lot more precise. I left the picture standing before standing up and leaving the computer desk.

I opened my bag for no particular reason, and found my bag of toiletries on top. I realized that I wanted to take a bath. I saw a door. Marie hadn’t told me where it led, so I walked towards it to check it out, only to find out that it’s a closet with guy’s t-shirt and jeans hanging on some rack. There weren’t many of them, proof that the person Lionel doesn’t really come often to the place.

I sighed before turning back. I didn’t have my own bathroom. I went back to my bag and pulled out my towel, and my bag of toiletries. As much as I’d love to whine, I know that it won’t get me anywhere, only possibly a wretched image. Not wanting any of that, I kept my mouth shut and walked towards the bathroom to take a refreshing shower.

Over dinner, Marie had made some nice stew. It amazes me how she could cook, clean or do things that the usual rich heiress’ couldn’t.

She didn’t make me help cleaning up. Either she’s a very generous host, or she’s afraid that I might break them. Having nothing to do, I went back to my borrowed room.

I climbed the bed, and picked my cell phone from the top of the pillow, where I left it earlier. I searched for my best friend’s number, browsing from Camille, Catherine, Carter, and then finally to Cerise. I pressed the call button, and waited for her to answer. She must be having a lot of fun as the she decided to get her phone after five rings.

“Leanne!” her sweet voice answered enthusiastically, and I can hear the beat of the music on the background, “Argh, you are missing the best summer ever” she said as if accusing.

Perfect. What a nice way to greet, like I’m not there by my own choice. “Hi Cerise” I impassively spoke,

“Oh” she slowed down, it seems that she remembered I wasn’t here on my own accord. “Hi, sorry I’m just too overwhelmed. I miss you already, we miss you.”

“Yeah, me too”

“Isn’t there really any way you could sneak out from that miserable farm, and head here? Leanne, we’re having a blast… and guess who’s been asking where you are earlier.”

“Harry Grayson?” I speculated, rolling my eyes at the memory of the extremely persistent suitor.

“No”

“Don’t tell me it’s Cynthia, I already explained to her why I’m here right now.”

“No silly, can’t you make a decent guess?”

“Gregory?”

I heard her chuckle, “It’s Jake Michaels” she laughed, “He’s been asking people earlier about your whereabouts, or if you’re coming”

“No!” I almost screamed, “He did not!?”

“He did sweetheart”

“Oh. My. Gosh. I should have been there” the punishment to me had never been that difficult to bear until that fact had been revealed. I’m so frustrated, I wanted to cry. My long time crush was asking where I was, and here I am unable to come there. I could perhaps sneak out if I had brought my car with me, but that’s not the case. If only the place was closer to civilization, where there’d be taxis waiting…

I let myself drop on the bed. There’d be no way Marie’s lending me her car. Not when she uses it to go to town to get us some supplies, not to mention my mother asking her not to let me drive. Why must I be grounded now?

“Leanne?” Cerise had broken my flowing thoughts. She seemed worried about my lack of response to her news.

“Er… yeah, still here” I answered weakly, “Oh Reese, I’m so, so angry at myself for being grounded at the wrong time.

“Don’t be too hard on yourself. Hey, I have an idea, how about, you tell me where you are so I can get my car and pick you up. Since we’re in the same state at the moment, I don’t think it’s that far from where we are.”

A light flame of hope started to come to me, “Really?”

“You know I’d do anything to get you here”

“Well, I’m not very good with directions, but it’s a long drive from a town called Little Hanks”

“Little what?”

“Hanks, Little Hanks? Have you ever heard of it?”

“From which part of the state is that place?”

I sighed. she doesn’t know where to find it. Well, Cerise isn’t better at navigating and following maps than I was. I guess having her pick me up is a pretty bad idea, worst case—she could get lost, and I’d hate for my best friend to get in trouble because of me.

“Oh never mind” I told her as lightly as I could, “Maybe I’d take my chances at the start of the new semester”

“Come on, you could take your chances now. Leanne, Jake is here, looking for you. It’s the perfect chance.”

“Maybe another time” I would want it to be now, but it’s impossible.

“Fine” she muttered, “I’ll just keep girls away from him then. You really won’t come?”

As much as it tempts me, “No Reese”

I heard her yelp, but before I could ask she took a deep breath and told me that it was only her boyfriend.

“Hi Leanne” he greeted blending with the background,

“He said he wanted to dance”

“Then I’ll call you another time” I spoke, deeply wishing that I was there with them,

“All right, love you”

“Love you too, have fun”

“Ok” and I ended the call.

I threw the phone on the side of the bed and closed my eyes. I’m grounded, and there’s nothing I can do about it. I cannot bother my friend and possibly put her in danger for my selfish reasons. I sighed, it’s probably better. This way I could probably ease up my bad record, maybe my parents would think I’ve learned my lesson, and would let me off the hook in one or two weeks. I shook my head, like that would happen. They’re word is law.

Giving up on going to the Lerouch’s private beach resort, I tried to think of pleasant things, unfortunately, all things pleasant always led me to the private beach resort, the parties they are and will be having, and Jake Michaels. The thoughts just made me feel more uneasy, and I shifted from one position to the other, until I finally drifted to sleep.

I woke up in the morning with the bright sunlight on my face. I felt its warmth on my back. Refusing to rise, I snuggled my long pillow, breathing in the scent of a light perfume which as I immediately recognized was for men. I remembered that I was borrowing the room of Marie’s brother for the time being. The pillows must not have been changed since her brother left for school. I tried to hug the pillow closer, but I found something really strange. It was warm, and it didn’t feel like a pillow at all. A little second of comprehension had made me open up my eyes, and I was greeted by the sight of a blue cloth with buttons. Later on did I realize that the pillow, or so I thought, was rising gently, like the chest of a breathing person. Oh no! I quickly sat up, ignoring the dizziness it had resulted, and backed up a few spaces, only to find a man sleeping on the bed. Shocked, and disoriented, I screamed.

The man staggered when he heard my loud shout and also backed a few spaces from me, surprise visible on his features as he stared at me. I stopped screaming that instant and returned the stare with a little extra—I glared at him,

“Who are you and what are you doing here!?” I blinked as he took the words right out of my mouth,

“Excuse me!?” I was supposed to be the one saying those. How dare him.

“What are you doing here!?” he repeated, and the door suddenly opened, revealing an anxious Marie.

I was about to run towards her, when the guy spoke again, “W-Marie, do you know this woman?”

Confusion seemed to mirror in my eyes as Marie walked towards me, and then gave me a light embrace, “I’m sorry Leanne, I… I wasn’t expecting—“

She turned to look at the guy, “I thought you were staying in your dormitory for the summer?”

The man ran a hair on his black hair, only then did I recognize his face. He was the person on the picture I’ve seen on the desk yesterday. He looks almost the same, except that his hair was a little longer back then. I tried to arrange the things in my still woozy head. The guy’s on the picture, he’s in the room, he asked me what I was doing here, and Marie knows him. I almost sighed. He’s the brother.

“Well, I didn’t know you were coming” Marie was explaining as I figured what the whole thing was about. I saw her brother scoff and stare at the window, an annoyed expression playing on his features.

“Leanne, this is my brother Lionel” she introduced, “Lionel, Leanne. She’s staying here for the summer”

The two of us kept quiet, not even bothering to say hi.

“Aren’t you going to greet each other?” Marie suggested,

“Er… hi?” I broke, trying to be nice. I’m the extra person here, better act good.

He cleared his throat, “Nice to meet you” he spoke unconvincingly, I was so sure he didn’t mean it, before standing up and then going out of the room.

“Sorry about that” Marie smiled, “He’s just surprised, he didn’t know you’ll be coming. He probably arrived last night or early this morning, too tired to turn the lights on and all… he wasn’t expecting anyone.”

“It’s all right” With her sincere apology, how can I not lie.

I went downstairs for breakfast a few moments after Marie had left me for my morning routine, and found Lionel inside the kitchen, helping himself to some pancakes. He didn’t look like he noticed me, or he simply ignored my presence as he did not look up the moment I stepped inside.

Robert Pattinson at the Oscars

Ok... I've been watching the Academy Awards earlier, and I enjoyed watching it very much (heehee). The first reason is of course, because like everyone else, I'm also interested in who gets an Oscar. Second, Hugh Jackman is the host (haha, I just love him) and he sung and danced quite well too, especially that number with Beyonce, and the stars of High School Musical and Mamma Mia (?) ->I'm not sure on this one, correct me if I'm wrong. AND Robert Pattinson was there!! Kyaaaaa!! Ok... I love him, and I'm so happy to see him present the Montage of Love in 2008 with Mamma Mia star Amanda Siegfried.

And during the announcement of the nominees for best actor in a leading role, he was
sitting behind Mickey Rourke. haha. Ehem... Sorry, I was just happy to see him there... made my day.

Anyways, here's the video, which was uploaded by

Listening to Lucky and Writing

These past few days I've been listening to Jason Mraz' Lucky featuring Colbie Caillat. I heard it first on the radio (My sister listens to the radio often, I don't though, just occasionally, when I'm not too lazy to turn it on, but that time I was, since she was listening, and... well you get the picture)... Jason Mraz has this beautiful voice, and you know it's difficult not to recognize it, so I assumed that it was his song, and I was right (lucky!), then saw the video on MYX... he's awesome, I just love Jason Mraz!!! I love listening to his voice. The song's a little short though, but it's very very very nice, I just wish that it could last a little longer. :)

Erm... I'm also writing this new story. Hmm, well I've written the draft on my notebook and had some of my friends read it, it's called Fixing Prejudice, haha. Then I started typing it on my computer, and I seemed (understatement) to have changed some (understatement again) of things I've written on the draft. Well, the story had turned out quite differently than what I first intended, but I'm not sure if they'll like it. I'll still have them read the modified version though, and ask for their opinions, if the first one's a little more preferable than the new one, or if they think the new one's better. :) I've also started writing this GH fanfiction featuring (NaruxMai), I'm a little anxious of this one, I'm a major NaruxMai fan, and I know how it feels reading a fanfic with OOC NaruxMai... haha, I hope nobody gets mad at me. I already posted it on fanfiction.net - read it HERE if you only want to of course :).

Movie Marathon

Ah... it's been a while since I've written anything about myself... haha... :) Nothing much to say... but just two days ago I finished watching Star Wars Episodes 1 to 3. and the day before that I also finished the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I'm actually proud of myself right now. Well, for one thing, I don't watch a lot of movies. Ok, I'm a little lazy when it comes to watching movies, believe it or not, only a few movies catch my attention (I don't know why that is... probably a glitch in my system). The only movie I'd surely, and I swore to watch on the big screen is Harry Potter, I've never missed one of its releases, and I do not plan to... I'm an HP addict, from the books to the movies...

I never really appreciated Star Wars and LOTR before. Well, one of the reasons might have been because I haven't seen their first movies, like The Phantom Menace, for Star Wars or The
Fellowship of the ring for LOTR, when they were released on the cinemas before. And watching their sequels: Two Towers (Only the parts with Legolas, coz I love Orlando Bloom), and Clone Wars without seeing the first movies did not help in making me appreciate (like I said, a glitch in my system... I have/want to watch from the beginning).

Then, one time, when my cousin and myself were talking, we got to the topic of movies, then he mentioned Lord of the Rings, and then I asked him if it was nice. He said yes, and contrary to what other people are saying about watching HP and LOTR--which is "if you like HP, you would
n't like LOTR", he told me that "if I like HP then I'll surely love LOTR too." He's my cousin, so I trusted him... So one time, when I was searching for HP movies (because I only had the Sorcerer's stone on CD->haha, yeah CD), I also searched for the Lord of the Rings, and while doing so, I stumbled into Star Wars... and then... dandandandan *** Movie marathon time...

I'm so happy I watched the movies, they're great!! And now they're part of my favorite movies list. Watching them made me see some of the er... little negatives of the twilight movie-->don't get me wrong, I think the Twilight movie's fine, and I like Robert Pattinson *hearts* , but the effects, the changes in the storyline, the lack of background music, gets so visible after watching the said movies (SW, LOTR, I watched HP again, and I'm still awed by the greatness of it. My favorite so far is the 4th Movie: Goblet of Fire, I can't wait for the 6th Movie *wide grin* I've been waiting for it since last year... 5 more months to go or is it 6?~). Back to twilight: I like the books better-->Well I suppose in most cases, the books are always better than the movies (I'm so IN LOVE with Edward Cullen!! I keep wishing that I'm Bella each time I read the books--> I've read the books quite a few times already, and still I want to read them again, and again, and again...). :)

I know I'm getting off the topic, sorry can't help it... :) I started off with Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, and I went to Harry Potter, and then Twilight, and then books.. Gosh, I'm getting lost on this post... haha, I think I better stop now... I'll try to arrange my thoughts, and hopefully post something decent later on.
